Have you heard of or tried birria? It’s a food trend that became popular a year or two ago and is just as—if not more—popular as it was then. Birria is Mexican dish traditionally made from goat meat but sometimes made from beef. Read more about it here.
I recently tried La Eloteria DMV, a home-based business in Hyattsville, MD. My sister found out about it on TikTok and wanted to try it, so we made it our mission to try it. Pre-orders start on Sunday, and the food can sell out fast. Just a heads up!
WHAT I ORDERED
La Eloteria DMV’s menu includes birria pupusas, elote, mangonada, birria tacos, and more. I saw a birria quesadilla and had to try it. You definitely get your money’s worth. Each section of the quesadilla was about the size in the photo below. You get three total. FYI, you have to purchase the consommé separately.
The birria quesadilla is a flour tortilla with a Mexican cheese blend, beef birria, and a cilantro onion mix. You have the option to opt out of the cilantro onion mix, if that’s not your thing. It’s served with a lime wedge, red hot salsa, and green mild salsa on the side.
The quesadilla was good without the consommé and even better with it. I loved how tender the beef birria was. I wish I thought of this!
La Eloteria DMV is one of my new (to me) home-based businesses, and I can’t wait for them to start their food truck! A birria quesadilla is something I didn’t know I needed. If you’re in the DMV, La Eloteria DMV is the spot you need to try! Their food sells out fast, so make sure you catch it in time!
Until next time.
