Do you have a place in your area that’s your go-to for Black-owned businesses? In my travels for Black-owned businesses in Prince George’s County, I have found that a few of my favorites are located in Laurel, MD. I’m specifically talking about the the PG side–Laurel is in three different Maryland counties. Check out a list of some of the Black-owned businesses in the area that I think you’d love.
Note: I will add more to this list as I try more.
High Five
If you love shops with multiple sweet treat options, High Five is a must-try! They also offer smoothie bowls, açaí bowls, smoothies, wafflewiches, ice cream, milkshakes, pastries, and other treats. Their smoothie bowls are made so beautifully.

More Than Java Cafe
Nestled in the city of Laurel is this lovely café with some of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. I suggest the Breakfast BLT. You can choose what kind of bread you want: bagel, toast, croissant, coco bread, or a wrap. You also can’t go without grabbing a bottle of Nana’s lemonade. You can truly feel the love when you’re here.

Rise Up Nutrtion
Healthier options don’t mean that flavor has to be lost. Rise Up Nutrition is a community-based nutrition club that has healthy shakes and tea that taste amazing! Below is their Key Lime Pie shake that tasted JUST like the dessert itself. Everyone is so friendly and the service is great. They also have community activities like walks to a nearby river.
