When was the last time you saw a shop or restaurant and checked it out without searching for reviews? I usually look for info about a place and sometimes search for reviews before I check out a new/new to me shop or restaurant.
I was sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic one day on Route 1 and saw JiDong Tea. I had no idea it was there and checked it out the very next week.
JiDong Tea is a bright, open space that’s perfect for relaxing by yourself or hanging out with a friend. I loved that the music wasn’t loud but was great for background noise. I stopped by in the evening, and it was pretty quiet. Most people, like me, took their orders to go.

WHAT I ORDERED
JiDong Tea offers fresh fruit tea, signature drinks, milk tea, cheese foam drinks, yogurt drinks, herbal jelly desserts, and ice cream. I stuck to getting only a drink and plan on trying a dessert next time. I ordered their Mango Pomelo Sago.
Mango Pomelo Sago
I was so excited to try JiDong Tea’s Mango Pomelo Sago. I tried this drink at a different boba shop a couple of years ago and loved it. It’s made with mango, grapefruit flesh, coconut jelly (sago pearls), and coconut milk. In my research, I found that “pomelo” is also Spanish for “grapefruit,” so the word may be used interchangeably. Pomelo is a non-hybrid citrus fruit from Southeast Asia and is related to grapefruit. I think it tastes like a mellow version of grapefruit. “Sago” is an edible starch that’s made from the pith of an array of tropical palm trees and used to make the pearls in this drink.

I loved the Mango Pomelo Sago! I wish I adjusted the sweetness level. I don’t even know what it was because I forgot to say it when I ordered. Other than that, I loved how refreshing this drink was. The fruit was so fresh…easily some of the freshest fruit I’ve ever had in a drink. If you love grapefruit, I think you’d enjoy this drink!
CONCLUSION
JiDong Tea was great for visiting on a whim. I wish I could’ve sat down to chill for a bit to truly enjoy the space. Ordering was seamless, and I loved the quality of my drink. The next time you’re in College Park, MD, check out JiDong Tea! I think you’ll love it.
