Swing’s Coffee Roasters

There’s nothing like finding a new coffee shop to try. I’ve been on a mission to try more coffee shops in the DMV and stumbled upon Swing’s Coffee Roasters during my search.

Swing’s Coffee Roasters has been making coffee in and for the Washington, D.C. Area for over 100 years. The coffee it roasts and serves is ethically sourced. What I appreciate about Swing’s Coffee is its dedication to being transparent about its coffee process, from sourcing to roasting. I also love that it focuses on sustainability throughout its process and working with family–farmed, small-holder farms.

I visited the Del Ray Coffee Bar location in Alexandria where its roastery is located. This location also houses its wholesale, coffee education, and roasting departments. This shop was spacious. I loved the openness of it, and it looked like a great place to hang out with a friend or do some work.

Note: The Del Ray Coffee Bar location is wheelchair-accessible.

WHAT I ORDERED

Swing’s Coffee Roaster’s menu is for coffee lovers. The menu features classic coffee drinks like the latte, americano, cortado, and drip coffee. It also includes non-coffee drinks like the Rishi matcha tea latte, the Arnold Palmer, and White Hot Chocolate. The sizes vary based on your drink of choice. The milk options were whole milk, skim milk, 2% milk, oat milk, almond milk, and half and half/breve. The sweetener options included Sugar in the Raw, simple syrup, white chocolate sauce, and caramel sauce. I haven’t tried the baked goods yet, but I hope to do so the next time I visit.

Cappuccino

I was in the mood for a cappuccino. There’s just something about this classic drink that does it for me. It’s made with equal parts espresso, milk, and foam. It’s only available in an 8 oz. size.

This cappuccino was solid. I loved how smooth and fresh it was. The next time I order it, I want to try it with white chocolate sauce or caramel sauce. I think either would be perfect for this. If you like cappuccinos, I think you’ll enjoy this!

CONCLUSION

Swing’s Coffee Roasters was a nice space with great coffee and good vibes. The baristas were nice and helpful. The menu was solid. I can’t wait to visit again. The next time you’re in Alexandria, check out Swing’s Coffee Roasters! There are also two locations in Washington, D.C.
