Rice is one of the best bases for bowls. It pairs well with so many ingredients. What’s funny is, when I visited this spot, my sister and I were craving ramen. After perusing the menu, the rice bowls were calling our names!

Uma Uma is a Japanese restaurant located in Ellicott City, MD. All of the ingredients used at Uma Uma are local, and fresh ingredients are used daily. I love it when restaurants source ingredients locally. You have the option to dine in or place an online order. My sister and I ordered online.

WHAT I ORDERED

The menu has appetizers, Yakitori (pieces of chicken on a stick, grilled), rice bowls, ramen, desserts, and beverages. There are also daily specials that use seasonal ingredients and are inspired by the weather.

Beef Bowl

The Beef Bowl is made with rice and topped with beef, pickled onion, lettuce, Tobiko (fish egg), Sesame soy sauce, Uma Uma sauce, and spicy mayo. I ordered mine without the pickled onion, lettuce, and Tobiko. I was excited to try this bowl.

Let me tell you…this bowl? I wish I ordered another one for the next day. The beef was tender and beautifully cooked. The sauces worked well together in this dish. I wish I knew what was in the Uma Uma Sauce because it was so tasty. The rice was nice and fluffy. As you can see, I enjoyed this dish. I cannot wait to order this again!

WRAP-UP

Uma Uma was a place I found when I was looking for ramen, and I hope to try the ramen there soon. I loved the Beef Bowl and highly recommend trying it. The staff members were kind and helpful. I can’t wait to visit again. The next time you’re in or near Ellicott City, MD, check out Uma Uma!
