Breakfast sandwich cravings are so real. Visiting your local deli is ideal, but meeting your friends at a local spot you’ve been wanting to try out is even better!
I met up with a couple of my favorite people, Mylah and Bri, the couple behind IndigoMelange on Instagram to finally check out Cracked Eggery. It’s arguably one of the most popular breakfast sandwich spots in D.C., so of course, we had to check it out!
Cracked Eggery is located in Cleveland Park, which is about a two-minute drive from the National Zoo. Colonial Parking has the closest public lot, and FYI, it cost me about $25 for 1-2 hours. Street parking was an option, but it was hard to find a spot on a Saturday. Also, Cracked Eggery only takes contactless payments. There also aren’t many seats and tables inside. The outdoor seating was available. We ordered online to help speed up the process since the shop was so busy.
WHAT I ORDERED
It felt almost impossible to choose one sandwich. There were SO many great options. I knew that I was ordering the Honey Butter tater tots and narrowed my sandwich choice down to The Animal sandwich.
The Animal Sandwich
When I read the description for The Animal, it had everything I’d want for breakfast. It has Cracked bacon, sausage, scrambled egg, tater tots, and American & Cheddar cheese. It’s topped with their special Cracked Sauce. Like all of Cracked Eggery’s other sandwiches, the Animal was served on toasted challah.

This sandwich was a dream. Everything was flavorful, and it absolutely tasted like the perfect breakfast. The Cracked Sauce was a lovely touch that helped bring everything together. I would’ve (and should’ve) ordered one to go for the next day.
Honey Butter Cracked Tots
I was amazed that Cracked Eggery had nine options for their tater tots. It’s easy to go the savory route, so I decided to go for a sweeter option: honey butter. I’ve never seen or thought of putting honey butter on things other than other breakfast items or chicken sandwiches, so I was excited to try them.

Honey butter and tater tots pair so well together. The salty and sweet combination truly did it for me. I would order this again.
CONCLUSION
If you love breakfast, run (don’t walk) to Cracked Eggery. I enjoyed the food so much and cannot wait to go back. The next time you’re in Cleveland Park or near the National Zoo, check it out! They’ve recently added a location in Washington, D.C.’s Shaw neighborhood.

Until next time.
