College Park has some shops worth checking out. I’ve spent more time out there lately, the most I have ever done. It’s been fun seeing what the city and surrounding areas have to offer. The Board and Brew was one of those shops on Route 1 that stood out to me. Checking out new coffee shops is an enjoyable experience.
Important details:
- Per the Board and Brew, this location is wheelchair-accessible from both street level and the parking garage
- Parking garage is beside Looney’s Pub
I visited the Board and Brew before 11 am, and it was pretty quiet. There weren’t more than 10 people seated. They have a decent amount of places to sit and order food/drinks at a table. I didn’t stay since I was on the go and ordered my drink for the road.

WHAT I ORDERED
The Board & Brew is a cafe that offers breakfast, lunch & dinner, and dessert options. As for drinks, they have coffee, beer, wine, and cocktails. I was open to coffee and tea, so it was initially hard to choose one thing. I loved that their coffee menu was pretty rounded out with staple and specialty drinks.
I ultimately chose to get the Black Thai specialty drink, which is an iced latte made with homemade Thai tea syrup. I was excited to try it since it was the first time I’d seen Thai tea syrup as an ingredient.

The Black Thai was one of the best lattes I’ve ever had. The Thai tea syrup paired so well with the coffee, which surprised me. This was a combination that I didn’t know I needed. I have had this drink two or three times and can’t wait to get another soon. If you love Thai tea, I’m certain that you’ll love The Board & Brew’s Black Thai.
Other Items I’ve Tried
Side Peach
Recently, I saw a few new seasonal drinks added to the Board and Brew’s menu. The Side Peach intrigued me. I had never considered pairing peach with chai. This drink is made with oat milk, chai, and peach syrup. You can swap out the milk. I chose to keep the oat milk even though I’m not much of an oat milk fan. It typically has a heaviness to it that I don’t enjoy. Flavor-wise, I enjoyed this combination. The chai spices pair beautifully with the peach flavor. If I visit again before the drink leaves the menu, I will swap the oat milk for another type of milk.

CONCLUSION
The Board and Brew was a solid coffee shop. Hopefully, I’ll get to sit inside sometime to have the full experience. If you’re looking for another local coffee shop to add to your list, the Board and Brew should be it! Check it out the next time you’re in or near College Park, MD.
