Nicecream

You wake up and get ready for the day knowing that you have plans. You check your weather app only to see that it’s going to feel like 90ยบ. There may be one thing that makes the heat a little less overwhelming: ice cream.

I’ve had Nicecream on my list for months. I hate to say that it took so long to visit, but I jumped at the opportunity when I had plans later in the day in Virginia. I figured, why not check out a shop or two on my list since it’s about an hour to an hour and a half away from me? I made a trip out of it and finally checked out this cool ice cream shop in Arlington, VA.

One of the coolest things about Nicecream is that they make ice cream with liquid nitrogen. It’s the only time I’ve ever seen it used like that. Other than their pre-crafted ice cream, they make all of their ice cream fresh to order. Liquid nitrogen is what makes that possible. They also use grass-fed milk and locally-sourced ingredients to create amazing flavors like Cold Brew Coffee and Pea Blossom Lychee.

  • Nicecream is wheelchair accessible. Call ahead, and an employee will open and hold the door if assistance is needed.
  • Contactless pick-up is an option for online orders. They’ll put your order on the table outside of the shop.

WHAT I ORDERED

Nicecream sells ice cream cups (1-2 scoops), pre-crafted pints, cookie sandwiches, brownie sundaes, cookie sundaes, affogato, and milkshakes. Their ice cream flavors change pretty often, so keeping an eye on their website is the best way to stay up to date about the flavors of the week. At least a few of the flavors that I saw when I visited are not there as I write this post. They rotate their flavors weekly depending on the season.

I did something out of the ordinary for me and ordered flavors that I normally wouldn’t jump to try. Something just felt right about trying something different. When you order scoops of ice cream, there are two options: Small Nicecream (1 scoop) and Regular Nicecream (2 scoops). I ordered the Regular Nicecream with the flavors White Chocolate Peanut Butter and Dark Chocolate.

White Chocolate Peanut Butter

Out of the two flavors that I ordered, I was the most excited to try White Chocolate Peanut Butter. If you’ve had a white chocolate Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, this ice cream flavor tastes exactly like that. This flavor was incredibly balanced. I think peanut butter-flavored things can be hit or miss, but this one is a hit! This flavor is one of the best I’ve ever had. I’d absolutely order it again.

Dark Chocolate

I was surprised that the Dark Chocolate ice cream tasted just like dark chocolate without the bitterness that comes with it. Dark chocolate isn’t something that I always jump for, but I’m glad that I ordered it. It was creamy, rich, and not overly sweet. If you’re a chocolate person, this is the flavor for you.

CONCLUSION

If you love having the freshest ice cream and locally sourced ingredients, Nicecream is a must-try. It’s so cool that your ice cream is made to order (unless you get pre-crafted) and created using liquid nitrogen. I think it created a unique experience.
